It was nice not being crowded or having people bump into you, or play bumper carts. They were limiting the amount of customers to enter and shop but I waited no more than 3-4 minutes both times. My recent visits were during COVID-19 and as of April 6, you are required to wear a mask to enter and while shopping. Just about anything you need for anything you want to cook can be found there - from fruits, veggies, meats, seafood, seasonings, and cookware. They have everything here! Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like they have the biggest Korean grocery assortment and choices here. I'll keep my fingers crossed for improvements in the future.lol The floors in Wegmans are almost spotless. They operate a space just as big as Grand Mart, if not bigger, and they manage to maintain such a high standard of cleanliness. I understand it's a huge supermarket with lots of foot traffic throughout the day, but I definitely feel the staff can up their cleaning game a few notches. My one big issue with this place though, is the cleanliness. And adjacent to that is a fridge with jars of all sizes of kimchi! In another corner of the market is a small space where you can buy Asian utensils, cooking appliances, tea sets, woks, and many other cooking accessories! Towards the back of the market, they also have a kitchen area where you can order food to go. There's so much variety of fresh fish, shellfish and other types of seafood to choose from! Grand Mart, easily has one of the best seafood sections of any supermarket in the Hampton Roads area, surpassing even Kroger and Harris Teeter and on par with Wegmans. They have stuff from all over the world, from every continent (except Antarctica of course.lol) and everything is neatly organized aisles throughout the market. I really like shopping here, mainly because of the incredible variety of food available. And it is truly a mecca of goods from around the world! This is the local international supermarket. I'm so disappointed to see that one of my favorite places in Hampton roads for international groceries has slid so far. where's the Jamaican and African foods? I asked where the section of Jamaican food and was told it's in the Latin section and the specific tea item I'm looking for can be substituted in the Asian section ! ( Caribbean dreams ginger tea) very interesting. There's a limited selection of international options just Asian and Hispanic foods mostly. Not ads for sales, there's no advertising for anything on sale just high prices. I did notice the wall of shoplifters shame very prominent at the front door. Moving through the store, there are a lot of workers just standing around staring at customers, makes me feeling like they are suspecting shoplifting instead of working. It's a cluttered and unattractive store now at best. There's hardly any customers who is was picking up the produce I noticed. The produce section is terrible now - there was a whole display of brown bananas, bell peppers that were expensive, and Korean cabbage that was overpriced. What happened?! This place is so different now- I just came back to the area and thought this couldn't be the same place.
